Cyril Donald Vincent Belgrave was born on October 21, 1938, in Morawhanna, Northwest District, Guyana to Bennett (Dads) and Ellen (Moths) Belgrave. He was called home on April 13, 2026.
Cyril was one of fourteen siblings. They later migrated to Georgetown, Guyana, where he built a life of his own. He became the proud father of four daughters, and three sons.
He worked for many years as a telephone technician with Telecom in Georgetown before making a major transition to the United States in 1987. He settled in Queens, New York, where he continued his career as a telephone technician with Verizon.
In his later years, Cyril returned to the place he always called home. He found joy in simple, meaningful things, tending to his yard, planting, caring for his beloved dog Georgee, and raising his chickens. He had a natural talent for cooking and was known for making some of the sweetest crab curry around. He also enjoyed music and relaxing with a sip of his favorite whiskey, Jack Daniel’s.
Cyril was the kind of man who could make you laugh without even trying. He was laid back, full of love, and always present when it mattered most. His joy lived in his family, and he made sure everyone around him felt seen and cared for. He carried a quiet strength and a genuine heart, the kind you don’t come across often.
As Proverbs 20:7 reminds us, “The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.” Cyril’s love and legacy will live on in all of us.
