Cheryl S. Norwood was 68 years old and was the beloved wife and best friend of Michael W. Norwood. We had been friends for 14 years before our marriage in 1989.
She was pre-deceased by her mother, father, step-father and both younger sisters. She has a half-brother who ceased contact with us after their baby sister died in 2019.
Cheryl was valedictorian at her high school and then graduated second in our class at St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, NC in 1979, with a BA in Political Science. She then attended graduate school at UNC-Chapel Hill studying city planning. She did not complete that course due to her first marriage unraveling.
For some time after school, she traveled extensively in the US to advise city planners. When she tired of traveling, she began working as a paralegal working primarily in real estate closings. She was employed for a long time with Morris & Schneider, P.A. She retired in early 2018, after over 35 years of steady employment.
Since we never had our own children, she was fond of teaching Sunday school to various age groups, but usually to 4th & 5th grade students. For many years, we would get wedding invitations from her former students who always loved Ms. Cheryl.
Memorial services are pending, but will be held probably in late August at Bethany United Methodist Church in Smyrna, GA.
