Charles Robertson, a devoted husband, father, and veteran, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2nd at West Cobb Funeral home and Crematory, 2480 Macland Road, Marietta, GA 30064. Immediately following the memorial visitation, the family asks friends to join them for a Celebration of Charles' life in the Chapel at the Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m.
Charles was born in West Virginia on October 7, 1940, Charles carried the spirited legacy of his heritage as the grandson of a Hatfield-a name synonymous with the legendary Hatfield-McCoy history of his home state.
A proud patriot, Charles served his country during the Vietnam era. While stationed overseas, he suffered an eye injury during operations that would lead to his qualification for military disability in 2006. During his service, he excelled as a Communication Lineman, a craft he mastered and continued throughout a long and distinguished career with AT&T.
Beyond his professional life, Charles was a man of many passions. He had an enduring love for old cars and the soulful storytelling of country music. A talented guitarist, he shared his gift of music with his community, performing at nursing homes and local venues like the American Legion, bringing joy to many over the years.
Charles was known most of all for his character. His quick-witted sense of humor was matched only by his profound generosity. To his wife and children, he was "the best dad ever," a sentiment echoed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Portia Ann Robertson, and his sister, Charlot Smith. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children, Melissa, Scott, and Michael. Charles was also a doting grandfather to six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
He will be missed by all.
