Charles "Buck" Collett, age 83, of Powder Springs, GA passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026. A Private Graveside Service will be held at 11am on Monday, July 20, 2026 at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton with military honors.
A native of West Virginia, Mr. Collett had lived in Cobb County for most of his life. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, having served during the Vietnam War. Afterwards, he retired from IBM after 31 years of employment, then worked for Interface Flooring for 4 years. Mr. Collett, as a man of many talents, enjoyed many hobbies including wood working, leather crafting, and remodeling anything to perfection. In his younger years, he played and coached a variety of sports, and in his older years, he enjoyed watching sports, especially the Atlanta Braves, the Georgia Bulldogs, and the West Virginia Mountaineers.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Donna Lee Collett; children, Rick Collett, Dallas, GA, Wayne (Shelly) Collett, Powder Springs, GA, and Jared Coile, Duluth, GA; siblings, Mike Collett, Vernon (Debbie) Collett, Elise (Jim) Murphy, Paula (Mike) Trettle, Missi Collett, and Barb (Dave) Cogliano; grandchildren, Ansleigh Cooper, Chas Collett, Josh Collett, Savannah Johnson, and Kaitlin Shumpert; great grandchildren, Blakely Johnson, Warner Collett, Isla Collett, Case Collett, Cameryn Collett, Colt Collett, and Brock Shumpert.
