Caroline Melton Ferguson

August 3, 1962 — May 24, 2025

Marietta

It is with profound sorrow that the family announces the passing of Caroline Elizabeth Melton Ferguson. A devoted wife, beloved mother, cherished sister, and loyal friend, Caroline passed away on May 24, 2025, at the age of 62. Her life was a testament to quiet strength, loving dedication, and unwavering commitment to family and community.

Born in Columbus, Georgia, on August 3, 1962, Caroline was the daughter of Jack William Melton Sr. and Winona Henrietta Love Melton. In 1967, her family settled in Marietta, Georgia, where Caroline spent the majority of her life and where she and her husband, Frank, built a home for their family.

From a young age, Caroline showed determination and grace. A pioneer in her own right, she became the first female to play on the boys' soccer team at McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Georgia. Her trailblazing spirit was matched by her talent and dedication in the school's band, where she formed friendships that endured throughout her life. After graduating from McEachern, she pursued a degree in Computer Science at Southern Technical Institute (now Southern Polytechnic State University), where she also met the love of her life, Frank Ferguson. They married in 1986 and enjoyed nearly four decades as husband and wife.

Caroline's professional achievements were marked by diligence and quiet excellence. While in college, she interned at Lockheed Martin, an experience that launched her into a successful career in technology and consulting. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree, she joined Andersen Consulting (later Accenture) before ultimately dedicating over 25 years to her career AT&T. Her colleagues remember her not only for her technical skills but also for her reliability, humility, and grace under pressure. She retired from AT&T in March 2025, just two months before her untimely passing.

Though Caroline's professional accomplishments were substantial, her life's greatest work was undoubtedly her role as a mother. She poured herself into raising her two daughters, Sarah and Emily, offering them not only unconditional love and support but also a rich environment filled with opportunity, creativity, and encouragement. She was steadfast in her desire to help her daughters explore the world and cultivate their own paths. She was their biggest cheerleader, their counselor, and their example of strength.

Caroline was also known for her creativity and joy in domestic life. She loved the holidays, but her favorite was Christmas, a time where her home always radiated warmth, was filled with laughter, and enduring memories were made.

She is survived by her loving husband, Frank L. Ferguson; her daughters, Sarah Catherine Ferguson and Emily Rose Ferguson Robeson; son-in-law, Matt Robeson; and her brothers, Jack William Melton Jr., his wife Margaret "Peggy" Melton, and Robert Troop Melton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Winona Melton.

Caroline's legacy is one of compassion, humility, resilience, and love. She never sought the spotlight, but she made an indelible impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her selflessness, fierce devotion to her family, and quiet generosity of spirit will be remembered always.

A memorial service celebrating Caroline's life will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, May 31, 2025 at West Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Marietta, Georgia. The family and friends will gather to share memories and honor her life from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory.
