A funeral service to honor Carissa's life will follow at 6:00 PM at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta, Georgia.
Carissa leaves behind A. Jerome McConkey, her loving husband of 30 years; her cherished daughter, Jessie McConkey; her beloved son, Wyatt McConkey; her mother, Cynthia Biggs; and her brother, James Goad. Carissa was preceded in death by her father, James R. Goad, whose memory she held close throughout her life.
Carissa's journey through her illness was profoundly enhanced by the unwavering support she received from her loved ones. Her mother-in-law, Mary Finley, her sister-in-law Donna Bain, and her brother-in-law, Charles McConkey, were pillars of strength, displaying an exceptional level of love and compassion. They consistently offered comfort, practical assistance, and unwavering encouragement, especially during the most trying and difficult times. Extending beyond her immediate family, Carissa was also incredibly blessed to have a close-knit group of friends who connected with her daily. Their regular check-ins and heartfelt interactions provided a constant source of warmth, laughter, and invaluable emotional support, serving as a lifeline during this challenging period and reminding her of the enduring power of human connection and friendship.
