CALVIN “TONY” ANTHONY BARNES
JUNE 4, 1963 – DECEMBER 2, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Calvin “Tony” Anthony Barnes, age 62, of Marietta, GA. He left this world unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
Born on June 4, 1963, in Tullahoma, TN, to his late parents, Calvin Leroy Barnes and Kate Morgan Barnes. Tony never met a stranger, and his personality was as bright as his fiery red hair. As a teenager, he was an excellent skater and reigned as the king of the skating rink. He was a graduate of Coffee County Central High School in Manchester, TN, Class of 1981. He then served his country in the United States Army. His love for others was shown through everything he did. He was a lover of all God's creatures, and his compassion for others was evident in his thoughtfulness.
Tony’s creative style and enormous care for others led him to pursue both his passions within the floral and funeral service industries. He earned his associate's degree in Mortuary Science from John Gupton Mortuary School in Nashville, Tennessee. His new career as a Funeral Director relocated him to Panama City Beach, FL, then to Atlanta, GA, where he planted his roots and devoted his life to his family and friends. For over twenty years, Tony dedicated himself to serving families in need as a funeral director at Castlelaw Funeral Home in Smyrna, Georgia. His compassion and understanding made a difficult time easier for many, and his commitment to his profession was evident in every service he conducted and in the families he served. Tony truly had a modern family and embraced the diversity of all those he loved.
Tony was not only known for his professional achievements but also for his vibrant personality and the friendships he cultivated throughout his life. He shared an unbreakable bond with his nephews, Eythan and Eyan, and his circle of friends and family will remember him for his infectious laughter and generous spirit.
Tony’s life came to a sudden end, leaving a void that will be hard to fill. His family and friends are devastated by his passing but find solace in the memories they created together.
In addition to his loving parents, he is preceded in death by his former wife, Michelle Lynn Pelker Barnes; his Grandparents, Beulah Mae Morgan & Guy Henry Morgan of Tullahoma, TN, and Gracie Rice Barnes & Rev. Albert Noll Barnes of Escatawpa, MS; and his beloved four-legged children, Kiowia, Nicoya, and Morgan. He is survived by his life partner, Anthony Hardeman; his loving wife, Maria Sanchez-Barnes; and his bonus daughter, Vanessa (Christian) Barnes-Arroyo. Sibling’s, Katrina (Mel) Dawn Barnes of Riverdale, GA, and Kelly (Jackie) Barnes of Manchester, TN, Teresa (Mike) Wilson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; His devoted best friend for over 30 years, Raye A. Brown of Marietta, GA; His heart, nephews, Eythan Antonio & Eyan Kalvyn Badillo; his furry babies, Bianca & Ashley “Lil Bit” Kate; several extended family members and lifetime friends.
A Crypt Side Service will be held in the Abby Mausoleum at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 2pm. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10am until 1pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta prior to the entombment at Westview Cemetery.
