Betty Fant Wright

April 13, 1942 — May 4, 2026

Betty Fant Wright of Powder Springs, Georgia, drifted peacefully from sleep into our Lord's loving embrace on the morning of May 4, 2026, reuniting with her daddy. She had recently celebrated her 84th birthday.

Betty was born in 1942 in the town of Belton, South Carolina, to William Calvin Fant and Edna Knox Fant. Growing up, she loved dancing, basketball, and especially Elvis Presley. Betty attended Belton High School and her first job was at Rainbow Rugs of Belton.

As much as Betty loved Elvis, the two men she adored even more were her daddy and Derrell Wright, the man she ran away with to marry. Together, they built a beautiful life and shared 67 years of devoted love and marriage.

Betty, Derrell, and their little girl Kim eventually settled in Marietta, Georgia, where Betty developed a passion for real estate. Betty never met a stranger, and her warmth and charisma paired perfectly with her choice in career; she started as an agent and later became a broker, working for various companies over the years, such as Duncan Realty, Barton & Ludwig, Coldwell Banker, Jenny Pruitt, and Telfair.

Betty thoroughly enjoyed vacationing with family in Hilton Head, some nights playing dodge the crabs with her grandkids by flashlight. She loved winning a game of bridge or canasta, and scoring a bargain at the Jockey Lot. Betty regularly attended services with her family at Roswell Street Baptist Church and GracePointe Baptist Church, both in Marietta. She was a loving wife, caring mother, devoted follower of Jesus, and friend to anyone who needed one.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents William and Edna, her sisters and brothers Joanne, Mary, Carolyn, Dan, and Alan. She is survived by her husband Derrell, her daughter Kim, her granddaughter Heather (Christopher), her grandson Ian (Emmy), and her great grandson Hunter.

When asked “How you doing?” Betty had a saying: “Fine and dandy like cotton candy!”

Those words are truer now than they have ever been.

Her Celebration of Life will be held at West Cobb Funeral Home on Saturday June 13th. Visitation begins at 12:30 pm with the service starting at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s name can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
