Betty Ann Gray

January 15, 1938 — January 13, 2024

Powder Springs, GA

A beloved Mother and Grandmother is watching over her family from a higher place now. Betty Ann Neisler Gray passed away on January 13, 2024, 2 days before her 86th birthday.

The only daughter born to Glen and Lucille Neisler, she adored her brothers, Robert, and Kenneth. All have preceded her in death, and we can only imagine the joyful reunion upon her arrival.

Raised in Mableton, Ga., Betty forged friendships from an early age that lasted until her death. Her first marriage was to Joseph William Stroud, Jr. and together they shared two daughters, Kelley Stroud Long and Julie Stroud Aronson.  She delighted in raising her girls and was a very active Nana to Julie and Leighton Aronson’s children, Kendall Ann and Chase. Her Grandchildren were one of her greatest pleasures in life.

In 1984, she married William D. Gray, who brought so much love into her life with his wonderful family, William Christopher Gray, Pam Gray de Monye’, her husband William G. de Monye’ and their son William G. de Monye’ Jr., Donald Shayne Gray, his wife Amanda Lisby Gray and their young sons, Gavin and Maddox. Nana Betty adored her large family.

Bill and Betty shared 39 years of adventures and they had much in common, love of the beach, country music and saving money. Music played a large part in their lives.  Betty was a lifelong Conway Twitty fan, and they spent many happy nights camping in the back of Bill’s truck at the Hiawassee Country Music festival. Saturday mornings would find them at yard sales. Betty had a sneaky sense of humor and a very dry wit. Nana and Papa set a loving example for all of us.

Faith played an important role in Betty’s life. She loved her Ladies Sunday School class at Macland Baptist Church. All her life she was an animal lover with an affinity for Dachshunds. Her cat, Ivan, is still wondering where she is.

Betty Ann also enjoyed her career and displayed her extraordinary work ethic as an Administrative Assistant. She was also an accomplished high heel wearer until her later years and always looked elegant.

She retired from the Atlanta Gas Company in 1996. Betty had many friends at the Gas company, and we will always remember them laughing.

We mourn the loss of our wife, mother and grandmother but will never forget the depth of her love. The family is asking in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue. https://mostlymutts.org/
