Annette Hansard

Mrs. Annette Gibbs Hansard, age 78, of Cobb County, GA passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, December 21st, 2025. Annette was born in Ashville, North Carolina on November 24th, 1947.

Annette lived most of her life in Cobb County, Georgia, graduating from both South Cobb High School and Georgia State University. She would go on to become a history educator at Osborne High School for 53 years. During those 53 years, Annette grew into a pillar of the community by dedicating her life to not only the education of children, but to the helping of others as well. She made sure every one of her students knew that she saw them as individuals and that she cared for each and everyone of them. She instilled confidence in her friends, family, and students by always believing in the best parts of them and motivating them to succeed. It is easy to be a good teacher, yet it is hard to be a great teacher. She was great.

Annette never met a stranger, everyone she came across was a friend open to conversation and a hug. She helped countless amounts of people over the years, never passing judgment or expecting anything in return, just because she wanted to help make people's lives better. She will forever be a shining example of how you should treat others.

Annette loved many things. She was an avid antiquer and had been all over the United States going to countless antique stores. In her free time you could find her gardening, tanning and reading on a beach, swimming in the pool, with her friends and family, or in the mountains on an antiquing excursion. She also loved her family deeply, and would do anything to help them. There are many memories of annual family trips, holiday celebrations, and little getaways with loved ones. She was also very rooted in her faith, she prayed for family and friends every night before she went to bed and often talked about her love and appreciation for God.

Annette is preceded in death by her parents, Joanne Watson Gibbs and James Pronce Gibbs, as well as her sister Joan Gibbs Chandler.

She is survived by her husband Phillip Hansard, her son Cory Hansard, and her Grand-daughter Katlyn Hansard.

The family will receive friends and celebrate her life from 4-6 pm on Saturday, January 10th, 2026, with a ceremony following at 6pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta.
