William Vernon Lamberson

July 21, 1949 — June 8, 2013

William Vernon Lamberson, 63, of Marietta, died on June 8, 2013 at home of respiratory failure after an extended illness. Born in Norfolk, Virginia, July 21, 1949, to Vernon Grover Lamberson and Doris Mae Daniel Lamberson, he graduated from Yorktown High School in Arlington, Virginia and entered the United States Marine Corp. While serving our country during the Vietnam War he was wounded twice, awarded two purple hearts and spent time as a POW. After Vietnam he attended Virginia Wesleyan College and Old Dominion University while working at Zuni Presbyterian Training Center in Zuni, Virginia with special needs children.

After a number of years as a pharmaceutical salesman in Virginia, Bill began a career in the Home Care - Medical Equipment supply business working first for Boll Medical in Charleston, WV before moving to the Atlanta area in 1986. He worked for several companies before opening Lamberson’s Home Care, Inc. in Duluth, GA in 1994.

He served his community as a member and past president of the Duluth Kiwanis Club. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Marietta. For many years as he faithfully supported his wife, the Reverend Zeta Touchton Lamberson in ministry, he taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and made it his job to bring a smile to the faces of all those he met in Presbyterian churches in South Carolina, West Virginia, Roswell, Marietta and Atlanta. Bill was a generous, supportive husband; a caring, loving father; a faithful friend and a proud Marine. Those who knew him were blessed by his infectious smile, his joyous laughter, his love of life and his deep caring generous spirit.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years Reverend Zeta Touchton Lamberson, a daughter Zeta Lamberson Hastings and her husband Andy Hastings of Chapin, SC and a son, Bart Joseph Lamberson and his wife Gabriela Gonzalez-Lamberson of Atlanta and two grandchildren, Gabriela Elisa Lamberson and Sarah Kate Hastings and a brother, David Lamberson of Martinsburg, W.Va.
