William Ralph Reed

September 10, 1924 — June 2, 2013

William Ralph Reed, Sr., age 88, of Kennesaw, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Sunday, June 9, 2013, in the Chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory, 2480 Macland Road, Marietta. Inurnment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park.

Born in Smyrna, Mr. Reed lived most of his life in Cobb County. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII. Mr. Reed was a retired manager with AT&T at the Southern Region Headquarters at his time of retirement and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Warner Robins and a previous member of Kennesaw First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria Reed in 1979.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Reed of Warner Robins; children, James Lewis (Patricia) Reed of Marietta, William Ralph (Jane) Reed, Jr. of Duluth and Jan Reed (Bill) Vaughan of Acworth; stepchildren, Diane (Pete) Mackowski of Warner Robins and Karl (Julie) Konnerth of Redwood City, CA; sisters, Joyce Cash of Smyrna, Sara Maloney of Kennesaw and Betty Howard Morgan of Marietta; grandchildren, Chris Reed, Zac Reed, Trip Reed, Walt Reed, Brandon Vaughan, Lindsey Doss and Daniel Mackowski and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, www.pdf.org .

The family will receive friends on Sunday for one hour prior to the service.

There will also be a memorial service at 2pm on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Summer’s Landing of Warner Robins, 604 South Kimberly Road, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
