Wesley A. Rowe

October 29, 1920 — May 4, 2012

Wesley Augustus Rowe was born to Ishmael Augustus and Lissan Pringle-Rowe on October 29, 1920 in Delveland, Jamaica. The family later moved to Town Head, Westmoreland where he completed his schooling. In 1941 while living in Kingston he joined the Royal Air Force and was shipped off to England where he fought in WWII. He returned home in 1948, met and married Alga James. He acquired various employments including Jamaica Omnibus Service where was a bus driver. He then joined the professional team of contractors at West Indies Home Contractors. He had served the company well by providing leadership support capable of delivering quick solutions for any employee issues. In 1962 he met and married his wife Raldah Hughes. In 1985, with his family, Wesley migrated to New York where he worked and became a valuable employee of Long Island Railroad Services. He retired in 1993 after which he moved to Florida.



Wesley was an active person who lived a full and diverse life. He was the kind of person who treated everyone he met as his own family. His passion was reading and watching western movies. He was an active member of the Sunny Isle Church of Christ where he cultivated many friendships in the name of the Lord. He was known to most as Uncle Wellesly, Wellesly, and Daddy Rowe. Wesley was such a great father and an exceptional man who touched the lives of many and will be missed by even more. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, godfather, confident and friend.



Wesley, being the last of his generation, leaves fond memories to celebrate his life in the hearts of his children Gloria, Rosemarie (aka Peaches), Raymond, Janeth (aka Dawn), Michael, Andrew, Beverly and Emsley (aka Junior). His grandchildren, Bryan, Marcus Rohan, Racquel, Renee, Maxroy, Deon, Clinton Jr., Monique, Michael II, Courtney, Sheldon, Shelly-Ann, Shenelle, Racquel, Ellion, Kimberly, Andrew Jr., Authum, Adrian, Aaron, Mychael, Joshua, and seventeen great-grandchildren.



His siblings Ethline, Erma, Millicent, Gwen, Donald, Edna, Gee, Ainsford (aka Bobby), Alfred, Bradison, Hortense, Newton, and High all preceded him in death. He also leaves behind daughters-in-law Andrea and Lorraine and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, son-in-law, God-children and many special friends.
