Richard Bruce

Richard "Dick" Bruce, 81, of Athens, GA, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. Dick was born to Bernerd and Sybil Bruce in Pine Bluff, AR in 1940. Dick was a caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend.

Dick was survived by his children, a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Dennis Baltz of Marietta, GA, their daughters, Lauren Mathis and husband Ross Mathis of Marietta, GA, and daughter Rachel Baltz of Atlanta, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Bradford and LeeAnn Bruce of Hamilton, NJ, their daughters, Ashlee, Alyssa, and Emily Bruce.

After graduating from High School, Dick joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country for 2 years. After graduating college, Dick worked as a Public Health Advisor at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for 30 years. Dick married Nancy Vaughan Bruce in 1965 in Little Rock, AR and was married for 49 years before her passing in Athens in 2015.

A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the American Red Cross @ www.redcross.org where Dick was an avid blood and platelet donor for many years.
