Rebecca Louise Luster

March 26, 1954 — February 3, 2017

Rebecca Louise (Hinton) Luster, 62, of Powder Springs, Georgia, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Friday, February 3, 2017, after a short battle with recurrent breast cancer. "Becky" was born on March 26, 1954, to Mariam Hinton and James Hinton in Atlanta, Georgia. Becky married the love of her life, Terry Luster, on September 19, 1986, joining two families into one huge forever family. Becky worked for the United States Postal Service and retired after 25 years of service this past summer, 2016, having recently completed training to become a court reporter.
Her talents were extraordinary, including decorating and sewing, among so many others. Her cooking was the stuff of legends, allowing our family to make some of our most treasured memories over her wonderful meals. Her smile was beautiful and infectious, as was her genuine warmth. She would never allow anyone to leave her presence without a hug and a kiss and an 'I love you.' Her strength was unforgettable, enduring any trials with grace and her fantastic sense of humor. She will be so very missed.
Becky is preceded in death by her parents, Mariam Hinton and James Hinton, and her brother, Rodney Hinton. She is survived by her adoring husband of 30 years, Terry Luster; her sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Dennis Carlisle, of Canton, Georgia; as well as many, many other extended family members and friends whom she loved like family.
Becky is survived by her sons and their wives (in order of birth): Michael McNair of Ringgold, Georgia; Shun and Donna Luster of Villa Rica, Georgia; Joseph and Rebekah McNair of Rockmart, Georgia; Greg Garner of Cartersville, Georgia; Jeremy and Tanya Luster of Canton, Georgia; and Luke and Michelle McNair of Dallas, Georgia.
Becky is survived by her daughters and their husbands (in order of birth): Carley and Brian Adamson of Douglasville, Georgia; Heidi and Rico Cunningham of Acworth, Georgia; Brandi Luster of Marietta, Georgia; and Jillian and Alvin Hollinger of Powder Springs, Georgia.
Becky will be sorely missed by her many grandchildren: Blake McNair, Jessica and Nate Davis, Madison Luster, Mason Luster, Marshall McNair, Brandon Cochran, Austin Cochran, Bailey Garner, Landon Luster, Braylon Luster, Mason McNair, Michael Greer, Jordan Adamson, Liam Adamson, Layla Adamson, Jaylen Cunningham, Camron Cunningham, Mekhi Hollinger, Alana Hollinger, and her great-granddaughter, who is due to arrive in April, Austin Davis.
A life-long member of the Jehovah's Witnesses, Becky will be remembered in a memorial service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., 3448 Hicks Road, Marietta, Georgia 30060.
Our family would like to acknowledge and thank the caring staff of Cobb Hospital, Kennestone Hospital, her oncologist and other surgeons, and the many nurses and doctors who helped to make her comfortable in her final days. Also, we would like to thank the caring staff at West Cobb Funeral Home for their care and helpfulness with the final arrangements. Finally, we'd like to thank the many friends and extended family members who have helped to ease our pain after so great a loss. The mark that Becky has made on so many is an indelible mark, one which we have been reminded of in the outpouring of love, prayers, and sweet thoughts and memories shared with us during this time. We thank you all.
