Michael Ray Wilson

Mr. Michael R. Wilson, age 62, passed away July 16, 2018, at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice after a courageous year long battle with cancer. Mike was born on March 6, 1956, in Marietta,
Georgia, and after graduating from Marietta High School in 1975, he began his 43 year career as a dedicated employee of Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. Mike was an avid sports fan and spent many years as a softball coach and manager for numerous teams throughout Cobb County. Mikey dedicated his life to his family, especially to his many nieces and nephews by always going to their sporting events or attending their school functions. He spent time between his family home where he resided with his brother Larry, as well as with his sister Patsy and niece Megan at his second home in Kennesaw, Georgia. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Eddie and Irene Wilson; sisters Shirley Moore and Judy Cogdill; brothers Bo Wilson, Johnny Wilson, and Ed Wilson. He is survived by his sister Patsy Fletcher; brothers Larry Wilson, Duke Wilson, and Phillip Wilson; beloved niece Megan Fletcher; and numerous devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, from 6 - 8 p.m. and Thursday, July 19, 2018, from 6 - 8 p.m. at the West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 20, 2018, in the chapel at West Cobb Funeral Home and interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta, Georgia.
