Loren Bray Cheaves

Loren Cheaves, age 88 of Acworth, born in Wrightsville, Georgia on August 4, 1927 to Wiley Cheaves and Sarah Powell Cheaves passed away on March 2, 2016.
The family will hold a private service. Interment will be at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
Mr. Cheaves was a member of First Baptist Church of Forest Park, Georgia, teaching Sunday School and serving as a Deacon for many years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Acworth for years.
He served his country in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army. He served more than nine years on the Forest Park City Council prior to being elected Clayton County Commissioner in 1972 where he served for sixteen years.
A retired Accounting Department Analyst with Ford Motor Company, Mr. Cheaves is a graduate of Forest Park High School, Greenleaf Business School and Georgia State University. In 1964 he was presented Ford Motor Company’s “Good Citizenship Award,” and was a Junior Achievement Advisor in 1972 and 1973. He moved to Acworth in 1997.
Mr. Cheaves is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alice Chandler Cheaves; sons, Alan Cheaves, Marietta; Anthony Cheaves (Jenifer) Acworth; grandchildren, Joshua (Abby), Jessica, and Jared (Courtney) Cheaves, Taylor and Matthew Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Brantley Loren and Paisley Cheaves; brother, Lautis Cheaves, Alpharetta.
