    Kayanne Kim-Loy Dunn

    December 2, 1984 - May 1, 2022

    Kayanne Kim-Loy Dunn was born on December 2, 1984 in Kingston, Jamaica. Kayanne along with her 1 year old toddler, Adali were involved in a car crash on May 1, 2022 in Hiram, Georgia. Sadly, this tragedy was fatal for Kayanne. Adali succumbed to her injuries and died two days later at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. KK spent the first years of her life in Kingston, Jamaica. There she attended both the Independence City All-age School and Jose Marti Secondary. Upon migrating to the United States in 1999, she completed her secondary education at Paul Roberson High School in Brooklyn, NY before moving on to further her education at Virginia University where she majored in Psychology. Kayanne always had a quest for learning and her pursuit of knowledge allowed her to achieved two master’s degree; Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling and a master’s degree in Special Education. Then, she later received her advanced degree in Applied Behavior Analysis and was also a Certified Prepare & Enrich Facilitator. While working at Benchmark Human Services, as a Behavioral Specialist; Kayanne also launched her own private business practice in 2021. She became the Founder, and CEO of Dunn Serenity Counseling Center, LLC in Marietta, Georgia. When she created her private practice, she strived to build it on the biblical principles of Christ, plus it was designed to bring hope and peace to everyone she had the chance to work with until her untimely departure from this world. Kayanne was a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified Clinical Trauma Profession (CCTP), and a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) with over 15 years of clinical experience providing therapy to children, adults, families, and couples. Being a native of Jamaica, Kayanne clearly understood that her cultural competence played a very significant role in her client's lives. And, she also recognized the importance of establishing a strong therapeutic relationship with each and every one of her clients. Kayanne was so gifted, and was on a mission to help individuals face life’s challenges by aiding them to understand their own emotional patterns, and directed them towards making the right choices. She accomplished this by assisting her clients to become better versions of themselves by selecting and utilizing the most appropriate evidence-based modalities to improve their mindset in order to create a better outlook on any issues or challenges that life brought their way. Additionally, she also had extensive experience working with individuals who had Intellectual Disabilities. On May 1st 2022, Kayanne along with her only child, 1 year old toddler, Adali; were involved in a car crash in Hiram, Georgia. Sadly, this tragedy was fatal for Kayanne. And, Adali succumbed to her critical injuries and died two days later at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Kayanne leaves to cherish her memories: her mother, Dawnell Marshall; brother, Durran Dunn (Marie); sister, Kyshanne Dunn-Henry; step-sister, Shawn Dunn; nephews, Jace Dunn and Omari Henry; nieces, Elise and Ardyn Dunn; several cousins and relatives; a host of colleagues and friends.
