John Francis Courtney

John Francis Courtney, age 79, recently of Powder Springs, GA, passed away on October 7, 2019 at his residence surrounded by family. He previously lived in the Tampa/St. Petersburg Florida area and grew up in Dorchester and West Roxbury, Mass. He graduated from Roslindale High School in 1958 and served in the U.S.Navy.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean Marie Courtney nee Skinner and his 3 children, Deborah Courtney of Colorado Springs, CO, Christopher (Johnna) Courtney of Powder Springs, GA and Nancy Courtney of Tallahassee, FL; his 7 grandchildren; and his sister, Dorothy Leahy of Long Island, NY.

John loved to travel and always wore a green Boston Red Sox cap to show his pride in his team and his Irish background.

John had a great sense of humor, never met a stranger and especially liked to meet people from different cultures. He was at his proudest when he took his family on his many adventures. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
