Joan Crawford Newton

Joan Newton of Marietta passed away on June 28, 2022, after a battle with cancer.
She was born on July 14, 1940, the oldest child of Comer and Flora Hunter. Joan was a graduate of Lemon Street high school. Her career included being a nursing assistant for Kennestone Hospital. Later she became an oral surgery dental assistant for Dr. Reuel Hamilton. Along with her career, Joan was an advocate for her community. She found purpose as a volunteer as well as a lifetime member of Zion Baptist Church. Joan impacted many lives around the community- never meeting a stranger. Her grace, kindness, and generosity will never be forgotten. She was truly a rarity.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years (Leander Newton Jr.), Sister (Shirley), two children (Raquel & Ryan), special nephew (Derrick), grandchildren, great grandchildren nieces and nephews.
Joan's Homecoming Celebration will be held:

Visitation at 10:30 am and Services at 11:30 am
