James Austin Tabb

January 18, 1937 — January 29, 2017

James Austin "Buddy" Tabb, age 80, passed away January 29, 2017. He was born in Houston, Mississippi on January 18, 1937 to Dan and Gladys Tabb.

Jim graduated from Marietta High School in 1955, and earned a Masters Degree in Engineering from Georgia Tech. He retired from Lockheed Corporation after 28 years, and started CadCom, which grew to be one of the largest manufacturers of answering service equipment in North America.

Jim was a charter member of Macland Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He was a passionate advocate for the homeless, particularly homeless veterans. He worked for many years with Habitat for Humanity and served in multiple mission efforts.

In his retirement, Jim enjoyed photographing the nature off his back porch, researching the family tree and writing a blog about Quantum Physics.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Connie Clay Tabb, of Marietta; three children and their spouses, Beth Tabb Duff (Zach), James Greg Tabb (Tiffany) and Susan Tabb Ginter (Chris). “Daddy Buddy” was well loved by nine grandchildren and one great-grandson: Aleene Duff (26), Austin Hancock (25), Maddie Hancock (21), Zachary Duff (20), Gage Kirby (17), John David Ginter (16), Laura Ginter (13), Finley Tabb (12), Harper Tabb (8), and Carson Whitfield (5).

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 4, 2017 from noon until 1 p.m. at Macland Presbyterian Church in Powder Springs. A Celebration of Life service will be held in the sanctuary at 1 p.m. A reception will follow at the church.

Honoring his passion for the homeless, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Jim Tabb Memorial Fund at StoneBridge Church in Marietta for their Acts 6 Program, dedicated to helping the local homeless. (StoneBridge Church, 176 Roswell St., Marietta, GA 30060)
