Jack W. McClannahan

April 23, 1935 — September 24, 2018

Jack W. McClannahan, husband of Ann F. McClannahan, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018. Jack was born to the late John Wesley and Louella McClannahan in Atlanta, Georgia on April 23, 1935. He was a dedicated Christian, serving as founding deacon of Mableton Christian Church in Mableton, GA. He was currently a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marietta, GA. and an associate member of First United Methodist Church in Ellijay, GA.

Jack was in the U.S. Navy after graduating high school at West Fulton, in Atlanta, GA. Following military service, he attended Georgia State with a major in accounting and later attended Georgia Tech to complete engineering courses. He worked at Bankhead Cabinets with his then father-in-law for 15 years. He established Atlanta Kitchen Center and two years later, Mastercraft Cabinet Company. When he sold these businesses, he joined Geiger International as an engineer and plant manager for their Canadian facility for 24 years. He retired to fulfill his long-time dream of living at Carter's Lake. He designed and built a beautiful Craftsman home at the lake which was enjoyed by family and friends for many years.

Jack was a master craftsman and built many heirloom items for family-especially for his much-loved grandchildren. A lifelong fisherman, Jack relished his annual fishing trip with his son Tim and over the years with many special friends. He loved to read but enjoyed it even more when he had personally met the author. He was seen as a wise and thoughtful person to all who knew him. He could see many points of view and helped others solve their problems in a fair way that brought peace.

In addition to his parents, Jack is predeceased by his half-sisters, Ruby Eaton and Mildred Hunt and half-brothers Frank and John McClannahan. He is survived by his four children and their spouses, Tim McClannahan and wife, Cheryl of Erie, CO; Cindy and husband Joe Arehart of Palm Coast, FL; Suzan and husband, Kevin Duvall of Spartanburg, SC; Pam and husband, Greg Brown of Cumming, GA; stepson and wife, Ken and Elease Franchini of Canton, GA and step daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Aaron Rice of Smyrna, GA. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren/step grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren/step grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; Brother-in-Law, Robert F. Adams.
