Hulett Frank Brooks

Hulett Frank Brooks, age 94, passed away on August 11th at 11:28 from natural causes.He was born February 26, 1928 to Frazier Trevor Brooks and Sarah Esteylee Brooks in Forsyth County, Georgia. At age 10, he moved to Cobb County and lived in Smyrna, Georgia. His father was a cattle trader and he often rode with him to the Marietta Square to trade cattle. At age 15, he had to drop out of high school to help bring in the crops while his brothers were serving in the military. Around the age of 16 he went into business with his brother to start a cab business in Smyrna. He used his father's tractor to plow gardens for a small fee. At age 22 he was drafted to the Army and became a gun specialist where he trained soldiers how to shoot. When he returned home, he got a job as a carpenter where he met Pansy Jean Todd on the square in Marietta, Georgia. Their first date was on a Sunday night where he took her to his church. They were married a year later on October 17th, 1953 and have been married for 68 years.

Their first son Robin was born in September in 1954 when he decided to start his own business as a general grading contractor. Alan, their second son was born in June 1958 where Hulett purchased 15 acres on Stilesboro road in Marietta, Georgia and built their first house. In 1962, Hulett purchased 40 acres on Acworth Due West Road in Kennesaw, Georgia and built their second house-later to purchase the 20 acres next to the house. Their third child Julie was born in November 1963 and their fourth child Terry was born in January of 1966. Hulett and his family attended New Salem Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon for 42 years. He helped to raise his children by teaching them to fish, hunt and have an appreciation for GOD. He took care of his mother who became a widow at age 60 where he built her a house close to his property.

Hulett had a thriving business in the Cobb County area for over 40 years and a strong work ethic where he served others whenever he found an opportunity. In 1996, he retired and moved with Pat to Chattooga County, Georgia on his 240 acre farm where he continued to stay active with gardening, wood working and taking care of livestock.

He was a devoted husband to his surviving spouse -Pansy (Pat) Brooks and father to his surviving children -Robin Brooks (spouse Beth), Alan Brooks(spouse Leigh), Julie Brooks Mell (spouse Cliff), and Terry Brooks(spouse LInda). Surviving Grandchildren are Joshua Brooks(spouse Dawn), Hannah Brooks Anderson (spouse Chad), Jessica Marie' Porter, Zachary Garrett Mell (spouse Anna Claire), Bradley Jackson Mell (spouse Courtney), Sarah Brooks, Audrey Brooks and Abbie Brooks. He is also survived by his great grandchildren-Cole Brooks, Josie Brooks, Hazer Brooks, Brooks Anderson, Sumner Anderson, and Haynes Anderson.
