Helen Brandt James

May 20, 1935 — March 8, 2015

Helen Brandt James, age 79, of Marietta, GA passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015. Memorial Services will be held at 3pm on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Light of Hope Presbyterian Church in Marietta with Pastor Edwin Gonzalez-Gertz and Rev. Pete Paulsen officiating.



A native of West Virginia, Mrs. James moved to the Atlanta area in 2004 from St. Augustine, FL. She received her Master’s Degree from Marshall University, and her undergraduate from West Virginia University. She worked as a teacher and a administrator for the Cabell County School System in Huntington, WV for 25 years before retiring. Mrs. James was also a member of Kuhn Memorial Presbyterian Church in Barboursville, WV for over 50 years, and was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Women. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis Hugh Hertig and Dorothy Marie Hertig, a sister, Dorothy Ann Ross, a niece, Rheta Gruse, and a nephew, Danny Ray Ross.

Tracey (Donnie) Bain, Marietta, GA

Glenn (Betsy) James, Marietta, GA



Sister: Winona Kay (Arley) Holbrook



Brother: Willis (Camilla) Hertig, Jr.



4 Grandchildren: Kyle, Hannah, James and Robyn-Marie



5 Nieces and Nephews: Chris, Charlotte, Eric, Arlene and Sara



In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wellstar Community Hospice, 4040 Hospital South Drive, Austell, GA 30106. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 12th, from 6pm until 8pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta. Online guest book @ www.westcobbfuneralhome.com .
