Gwen Lorimer

Mrs. Gwen "Kathy" Lorimer, age 78, a longtime resident of Brooklyn, NY and currently residing in Powder Springs, GA, passed away Friday afternoon, November 06, 2020. Her loving daughter, Annette Lancaster, Annette's spouse David Gerald, her grandson Curtis Lancaster and his wife LaThanya were by her side. A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta, GA.

Born on October 17, 1942, and raised in the country of Guyana, Kathy was a daughter of the late Frederick Olonzo and Ivy Muriel Simmons. In 1978, she married the love of her life, the late Harry Lorimer, and they had 8 beautiful children.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years; two daughters, Maryln Herbert and Judy Simmons; and two grandchildren Andrea Thomas and Olivia Jacobis. She is survived by four daughters, Annette Lancaster (David Gerald), Jennifer Thomas (Albert Thomas), Romona Simmons, and Marva Browne (Colin Browne); two sons, Ryan Simmons (Unis Simmons), Jimmy Simmons (Marina Ann Simmons); siblings, Doreen Simmons, Leah Simmons-Fiedtkou, Jane Simmons-Abraham, Glenda Yaw, Roseline Simmons, Juliet Lam, and Loretta Lewis. She also leaves 26 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 1great great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Kathy was a seamstress by trade. She had a true love for sewing, gardening, dancing, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a caring and loving woman with a beautiful soul, who loved to laugh and tell jokes. Her presence was a blessing and she will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, GA.
