Gary Atom Smathers, age 64, of Marietta, GA passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013. Private Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
A native of Asheville, NC, Mr. Smathers had lived in the Cobb County area for the last 20 years. He was a recruiter for Assurant Solutions. He was also an avid golfer at Brookstone Country Club and enjoyed boating at Lake Allatoona. He was an enthusiastic fan of the University of Georgia football, and was of the Lutheran faith.

Wife, Cynthia Smathers of Marietta, GA; Mother, Cutine Smathers of Ashville, NC; Neice and Nephews, Katie, Derek and Andrew Maddox; Mother-in-Law, Bottie Maddox; Brother-in-Law, Gerald Maddox; Sister-in-Law, Dorothy Maddox; Son, Christopher Smathers of Charleston, SC; 3 Grandchildren, James, Murray Catherine, and Emma Smathers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Stroke Association @ www.stroke.org .
