Gary Edward Laubengeyer passed away at the age of 66 on April 17, 2016 due to complications from his two year battle fighting cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Althea Laubengeyer. His is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Janet Sears Laubengeyer, siblings, Dean, Jay and Cindy, nieces and nephews, David, Dean Jr., Kelly, Tammy, Constance, Sarah and Megan, grand nephews and nieces, Christian, Joshua, and Dae’lynn. Also, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harrison and Hannelore Sears, sister-in-law, Darlene Laubengeyer, brother-in-law, Steven, nephew Timothy and great nephews Gage and Conner.
Gary was born in Philadelphia, PA and grew up in Vineland, NJ. He graduated from Vineland High School in 1967 and became a member of the Civil Air Patrol. In a very unique move, Gary earned his pilot’s license before getting a driver’s license. He later went on to serve in the Air Force for two years. Shortly thereafter, Gary having cultivated a love for the natural beauty of the Southern United States moved from New Jersey to Atlanta, Georgia in 1978 where he went to work as a corporate pilot until he retired in 1995. He has been a native of Marietta, Georgia for the last 35 years. Gary also loved the quiet tranquility and small town life of the North Georgia Mountains and along with his wife made this their second home in 1999.

Funeral Services for Gary will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 2pm in the Chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 19, 2016 from 6pm until 8pm and Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 11am until 2pm at the funeral home.
The interment service will be held Friday, April 22, 2016 at 9:30 am at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA with Military Honors.
