Mr. Edwin S. Martin, Sr., age 75, of Powder Springs passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014 due to complications after suffering a heart attack on Saturday evening, March 29th. Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Friday, April 4th in the chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory, 2480 Macland Road, Marietta. Interment will follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park, 1861 Dallas Highway, Marietta.
Born on April 10, 1938 in Cumming, GA, Ed was a resident of Smyrna and Austell the majority of his life, then settled in Powder Springs near Lost Mountain. He retired from Lockheed-Martin on April 1, 2002 after 20 years of employment. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Carlene Martin, his brother Leroy Martin, sisters Clara Self, Laura Hendrix and Estelle Nurik.
Survivors include:
Wife of 55 years, Barbara J. Martin
2 Sons: Edwin S. “Eddie” Martin, Jr. and wife Nancy
John S. Martin and wife Jill
6 Grandchildren: Scott, Ryan, Brett, Patrick, McClaine and Daniel
2 Sisters: Bobbie Crider
Mary Jo Kovatch and husband Alan
And numerous nieces and nephews
The family will receive friends Friday from 11am until 1pm at the funeral home.
