The family of Mr. and Mrs. Lwanga of Rubaga-Kabusu in Uganda, with the deepest sorrow, announce the death of their beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and grand-aunt Damalie Marion Nakisozi Lwanga, who passed away on the morning of Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Gwinett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Damalie was born on June 15, 1968, in Mengo Hospital, Kampala, Uganda. She attended her formative education in Uganda, then moved to Montreal, Canada, after high school. Damalie left Montreal for the United States to pursue further studies at Ithaca College in upstate New York. She transferred to Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania. She graduated with a Bachelor of Accounting and Business Studies honors degree. After college, Damalie moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she has lived for over twenty years. At the time of her death, Damalie worked as an Accountant with Rollins Inc in Northeast Atlanta and was a very active beloved member of the Uganda Community in Atlanta, GA. She served several Ugandan diaspora cultural associations, including the Uganda North American Association (UNAA), Buganda Bumu North American Convention, and Agali Awamu Southeast USA. Damalie will be remembered as vibrant, jovial, and the life of the party. She loved dancing, walking, and jogging for exercise. She said the outdoors brought her great happiness. She loved nature and spoke lovingly about how spending time in the clean, fresh air and greenery of her father's home in Kooki, Rakai, gave her a sense of peace. Damalie enjoyed meeting new people, often traveling to social conventions across the country, and visiting her family in the United Kingdom and Uganda. Damalie is survived by her niece Khloe Luwedde, her parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews in Georgia, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Uganda, the United Kingdom, as well as her chosen family, the Uganda-Atlanta Community.
