Chester Lee Ellis, age 84, of Marietta passed away January 26, 2015. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, January 29 at Sewell Mill Baptist Church, Marietta with Rev. David Watson officiating. Mr. Ellis will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton.
Mr. Ellis was born in Davenport, Iowa and lived in Marietta for the past 37 years. He owned several businesses throughout his life and ultimately retired from Complete Auto Machines as a sales representative. He was a proud veteran of the United States Airforce. He was a loving husband, proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Mr. Ellis is preceded in death by his parents Hiram and Helen Ellis and 2 daughters: Chetta Lee Alexander and Lisa Ellis. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Betty D. Ellis; Children: April Stephaine, Stephen Ellis, Rena McCall, Larry Stephen Hamrick, Barbara E. Ogden, Janet Leigh Hamrick, Johnathan Hamrick; Sister, Betty Rae; 17 grandchildren: Jimmy Townsend, Diana Hamrick, Jason Townsend, Mark Ogden, Kevin Hamrick, Daniel Hamrick, Kyle Hamrick, Tyler Hamrick, Josh Hamrick, Adam Hamrick, Victoria Tovar and Gracie Hamrick and Lauren Alexander Shoemaker; 13 great-grandchildren: Jacob, Austin, James III , Chance, Hunter, Sophia, Peanut, Gatlin, Lilli, Eli, Emma, Rachel, Rebekah and Rosemary and many loving nieces & nephews.
