Charles Thomas Greene Sr., 71, of Austell, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2020 due to complications from Covid-19 and pneumonia. Born February 23, 1949, he was preceded in death by his parents Nathaniel Henry Greene and Ernestine Scott Greene and his brother Joseph Allen Greene.
His surviving sibling is Patricia Dearing of Powder Springs, Georgia. Other survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sandy Greene Huffstetler and Mark Vincent Huffstetler; his son and daughter-in-law, Charles Thomas Greene Jr. and Kim Laughridge Greene; . His surviving grandchildren are Jordan, Blakely, Chandler, Sydney, Waverly and Vivian.
Charles was a graduate from Towers High School in Decatur, Georgia and operated a successful landscape business for several decades. He was known as "good time Charlie" to all who knew him. He was a jokester and the life of the party, always telling a joke, playfully teasing someone or laughing. His favorite pastimes was being with his grandchildren. Whether it was teaching them how to tame feral cats into loving household pets or hanging out at the McDonald's playground, they could count on Granddad. He taught them the art of a joke and how to keep a sense of humor. Charles was also involved in the community. You could always find him at Dogwood Country Club playing a round of golf, at church on Sundays playing the drums or hanging out at Clay Rd. True Value Hardware. He played Santa there for many years. During his life, he was a good friend, loving family member, and provided a smile and laughter to everyone.
Due to Covid-19, the family will gather at a later date for a private Celebration of Life service.
