    Carmella Smallwood

    December 1, 1932 - February 6, 2022

Retired Lieutenant Colonel, National Police Force, Republic of Liberia Widow, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Niece, Cousin, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Friend. Sunrise: December 1,1932 Sunset: February 6, 2022 God saw that you were tired and a cure was not to be. So, he put his arms around you and whispered "Come to me." With tearful eyes we watched you suffer and saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best. The Smallwood, Bishop, Pierre, Harris, Evans and Sancea families regretfully announce the call from labor to rest of our dearly beloved, Mrs. Carmella Upton Bishop Smallwood aka Lady Newport. Lady Newport was pre-deceased by her parents, James T. Bishop and Florida B. Evans, her husband E. Winfred Smallwood Sr. Retired Associate Justice, RL, her sons, George H. Pierre and E. Winfred Smallwood Jr. Her siblings, Tryphena Johnson Ricks and Aldrich W. Cooper. Her Maternal and Paternal Aunts, S. Leah Evans and Ella Bishop Sharpe and her favorite Uncle, Christian Bishop. She leaves to cherish her memories, her sister Facia Bishop, her children, grandchildren , in-laws, cousins, great grandchildren and a host of other relatives. Our mother was a mother to every child she encountered. She was sweet, kind, warm and loving. Mom never met a stranger. We have all gained and angel. "Rest in peace My Boogie Boo, until we meet again." ( Carmel Smallwood, daughter of the deceased).
