Pastor Carl Braswell

Rev. Carl Braswell, age 83, of Cumming, Georgia passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at McDonald and Son Funeral Home, 150 Sawnee Drive, Cumming, GA 30040 with Pastor Noe Mendoza and Pastor Mark Biddy officiating. A Graveside Service will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Smyrna, Georgia at 3pm with Pastor Charles Blackstock officiating.
Born in Waco, GA, Rev. Braswell lived in many parts of the state of Georgia and throughout the southeast before retiring in Cumming, GA. As a young man, he worked for Dunn and Bradstreet and Blue Cross - Blue Shield before entering the ministry full time. He served for 35 years in Pastoral Ministry at various churches, including the founding Pastor of Grace Baptist in Mableton, GA, Calvary Baptist in Smyrna, GA, Mt. Arbor Baptist in Marietta, GA, the founding Pastor of Harvest Baptist in Acworth, GA, Faith Baptist in Mission, TX, and First Baptist Church in Pikeville, TN. After his pastoral ministry, he spent 25 years in missionary service with Macedonia World Baptist Missions and with Latin American Outreach. Rev. Braswell served on the board of the Dalton Rescue Mission and Children's Home, served as President of the Georgia Association of Christian Schools, was the founder of Harvest Christian Academy, and was a member of the Baptist Preacher's Evangelistic Association. He was preceded in death by a son, Danny Stephen Braswell, in 1961.
Survivors include: Wife of 64 years, Shirley Braswell; 2 Children, David (Becky) Braswell, Canton, GA and Carla (Ken) Mueller, Woodstock, GA; Brother, Ralph (Sandra) Braswell, Bremen, GA; 3 Grandchildren, Matt, Bret and Kristen; 1 Great Grandchild, Barrett.
