Caleb Morgan Caskey

February 6, 1994 — June 20, 2017

Caleb Morgan Caskey, age 23, died June 19th near his home of Marietta Georgia. Caleb was born February 6, 1994 in Peekskill New York, the third child of Mark and Luanne Caskey. Relocating to Western Pennsylvania, he was a 2012 graduate of Penn Trafford High School in Harrison City, PA. Caleb was a Georgian resident since 2013 and employed by Ed Voyles Kia of Chamblee.
Caleb was a member of United Methodist churches of Shrub Oak (NY), Murrysville (PA) and Garden City (PA) before affiliating with Cedarcrest Church in Acworth, GA. It was here that he served as a mentor to high school students and renewed his baptismal commitment.
A charismatic and gregarious young adult, Caleb possessed a signature smile and demeanor. He had friends of all ages and backgrounds and had a strong streak of Human Rights Advocacy in his nature. Caleb was a born athlete and enjoyed Fencing, Basketball and high school Football. He basked in the out of doors spending many weekends camping, hiking and boating in northern Georgia. He was a devoted animal lover and was preceded in death by his dog "Ivy," a Bernese Mountain Dog. A listener of National Public Radio podcasts, he ascribed to experiential learning and a move away from consumerism. He had aspirations for world travel and cultural and ethnic connectivity, building relationships and creating memories along the way. He was a fervent Bernie Sanders supporter.
In addition to his parents, Caleb is survived by his brother Ryan (Megan) Caskey of Acworth, GA, sister Meredith Caskey and partner Graham Strother of Alexandria, VA, maternal grandparents Louis and Christine Floetker of Fishers, IN, niece Haven Caskey and nephew Lawson Caskey. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Elsie Adams, his paternal step grandfather Jack Adams and his paternal grandfather Dale Caskey.
Caleb will be celebrated in Life and Resurrection at a Sunday service held June 25th at Mars Hill Community Church, 3 pm, in Powder Springs. The family will receive friends in the proceeding hour between two and three o'clock at the church. He will be interned in New York State.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to any of the following organizations which reflect his interests and hopes: Drops of Dew Ministries ( www.dropsofdew.org < http://www.dropsofdew.org >) serving Haiti, founded briefly after his mission trip to the island; "World Race.org" an 11 month long experiential mission trip combining travel and service; Smile Train www.smiletrain.org < http://www.smiletrain.org > (reconstructive facial surgery) in recognition of Caleb's trademark. Likewise donations to your local animal shelter, environmental endeavor or human rights campaign memorializing Caleb's life would bring honor to his character and brave heart.
