Betty Lee Lawhon Parker, 86, of Powder Springs, Georgia, passed away in her sleep on December 27, 2011. Mrs. Parker, better known as Granny and Lala, leaves behind a loving family and dear friends. Lala was best known for her complete dedication and unconditional love for her family, unwavering Christian faith, sweet and caring attitude, wonderful fried corn, and Lala biscuits. She loved playing Rummy with her grandchildren and rarely lost. She was an avid Braves fan since the 1960s, and never missed a televised game.

Lala was born on August 12, 1925 in Cartersville, Georgia to the late William and Estelle Lawhon. She was the fourth of six children. The family moved to Cabbagetown (near Atlanta) when she was eight-years-old. At the age of 15, she married the man who would be her husband of 63 years, the late Paul Henry Parker. They had five children. In the 1960s, they moved to Orlando, Florida where they lived for over 30 years. After retirement, the coupled moved to Covington, Georgia where they lived until Paul’s death. For the past 9 years, Lala has shared a home with her daughter Selina, son-in-law George, grandson Nathaniel, and constant animal companions Hayden and Lilly.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul, and her son, Larry. She leaves behind her beloved children Paul (Sheri), Earl (Linda), Deborah Parrino (Paul), and Selina Raeder (George); ten grandchildren; five-and-a-half great-grandchildren; her brother William; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; and nephews.
