Prior to moving to Georgia in 1966, she worked for Bacon’s Cotton Mill, Bacon’s Hosier Mill and the Broadway Café and Ice House in Lenoir City, Tn. After moving to Georgia, she provided in-home childcare for several people until she went to work full-time in 1980 for Lathem Time Corporation. She absolutely loved working there and loved the people she worked with. She was a dedicated, hard-working employee and was recognized as “Employee of the Month” on at least one occasion. She retired in 1993 and was able to enjoy 25 years of retirement doing the things she loved.
She loved bowling, gardening, working in her yard, “digging in the dirt” with her plants and flowers, embroidery work, and making her hand-crafted paper roses. Of all the hobbies she had, being in her kitchen was her favorite. She absolutely loved cooking and loved to see people eat. She called her kitchen “Granny’s Country Kitchen.” She’s baked hundreds of cakes for friends, family members, doctors, etc. and was affectionately known as the “cake lady.” This is a title she wore proudly!
Through it all, her faith and family was the most important. Her unconditional love was second to none. She loved well and was well loved and will be greatly missed.
