Biography

SSG Robert Barnwell, age 41, of Powder Springs, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2013, at Ft. Bliss, TX. Services will be held at 2pm on Sunday, February 17, 2013, in the Chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory, 2480 Macland Road, Marietta. Interment will full military honors will follow at Georgia Memorial Park.

SSG Barnwell was a life-long resident of Cobb County. After graduating from McEachern High School in 1990, he joined the United States Marine Corps and then the Georgia Army National Guard where he went on to serve three tours in Iraq. He was a member of Roswell Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Arie Barnwell of Powder Springs; siblings, Lee Barnwell, James Barnwell and Nina Durham all of Powder Springs, Barbara Wilson of Huntsville, AL and Nancy Butler of Dayton, OH and several nieces and nephews.
