Winona Smith Hughes

Winona Smith Hughes, age 96, of Marietta passed away, Wednesday, November 13, 2013. Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, November 15 in the Chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Rev. Timothy Hankins officiating. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery.



A native of Cherokee County, NC, Mrs. Hughes resided in southern California for 10 years before moving to Marietta in 1946. She retired from J.C. Penney after 25 years of employment, and was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Marietta. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, and took classes at the 1st United Methodist Church of Marietta.



Mrs. Hughes is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Dessie Cook, her husbands, B.T. Smith and Van B. Hughes. She is survived by her daughters; Betty L. (Randall) Hunter of Marietta, and Susan (Jackie)Dobbins of Murphy, NC; siblings, Dovie Nelson of Murphy, NC, and David H. Cook of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Randy Hunter, Robert Hunter, Russell Hunter, Mark Dobbins and Melanie Dobbins; great grandchildren, Devin Hunter, Ivan Hunter, Kaitlin Hunter, Adam Dobbins and Linda Dobbins and step daughter, Dr. Dana Henderson.
