Thomas “Tom” N. Baker, Jr., 69, of Marietta, GA passed away peacefully on September 27, 2016. Tom was born in Los Angeles, CA, on May 14, 1947, and grew up with is sister, Candy, in La Jolla and later Cincinnati and Atlanta, where he graduated from Northside High School. He attended college at Emory before graduating from Georgia State University, and was a veteran of the United States Army.
Tom became a professional photographer and managed several Wolf Camera stores, later becoming an IT professional and finally retiring from Xerox as Desktop Services Manager. Even after retirement, he enjoyed helping friends and family who continued to call on him for “tech support.”

He served several terms as board member for his condo association, most recently as treasurer, and served many active years in the Rosicrucian Order AMORC in Atlanta. Tom read music and played many musical instruments by ear, from trumpet in high school to flute, mandolin, dulcimer, electric and acoustic guitar, and at age 69, ukulele. He loved to experiment in cooking, and continued to pursue martial arts through Aikido, Tai Chi and Chi Gong over many years. Tom loved his cats and friends fondly called him the “cat whisperer.”
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Baker, sweetheart and wife of thirty-one years, his son, Patrick Baker and daughter-in-law Shannon; grandson, Brooks Baker, and sister, Candy Snipes and brother-in-law Harry. A Memorial Service will be held at Fellowship Bible Church, 480 W Crossville Rd, Roswell, GA 30075 on October 17, 2016 at 1:00p.m. Immediately following the Memorial Service the family will be hosting a celebration of life gathering for Tom at City of Mountain Park Community Building, 100 Lakeshore Drive, Roswell, GA 30075.
