Richard Holmes Parker, Sr., 75, a longtime resident of Marietta, GA died March 22, 2017 surrounded by his family. Richard was born November 4, 1941 in Ithaca, NY to Malby & Ethel Genung Parker. Richard was employed as an engineer with General Electric for 28 years & later worked with Kajima, Shinro, & The Facility Group. His favorite project was his design work with NASA’s Saturn V rockets. Richard was a certified scuba diver, avid water skier, fisherman & sailor. As an amateur photographer, he was never without his camera. However, his greatest love was his family. Richard is survived by his wife, Carol Gray Parker, their children: Christina Arenth (Andrew), Lynn Froemming (Kevin), Jonnie Cherry (Norman), Richard Parker, Jr. (Kristina), “adopted daughter” Melvin Gresham, 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren & sister-in- law, Donna Parker. He was preceded in death by his parents & his brother, Donald M. Parker. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday April 22 from 4 to 6 pm at East Cobb United Methodist Church in the Activity Bldg. at 2325 Roswell Rd., Marietta, GA 30062. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church for their Family Promise Ministry.
