Ray Thomas

Hubert “Ray” Thomas, age 73, of Austell, GA passed away on August 9, 2016. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, August 11th at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, GA with Pastor Garland Odom and Elder Ronnie Hall officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 4pm until 8pm at the funeral home. He will be buried at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery in Loudon, TN on Saturday, August 13th. Ray was born in Lenoir City, TN on November 4, 1942 to parents, Agnes and Emmett “Shorty” Thomas. He was proceeded in death by his son, John David Thomas; father, Emmett Thomas and siblings, Wilma, Larry and James “JR” Thomas.

Ray was a member of the 3rd Armored Division from 1961-1964. Ray was a brick mason and masonry foreman for over 38 years. Ray loved spending his time surrounded by his family and enjoyed camping. Ray was very proud of all of his grandchildren.

Ray is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mildred Estes Thomas and their 3 daughters; Sheila Cleveland (Marvin) of Temple, GA, Penny West (James) of Greenback, TN, and Amy Thomas (Richard) of Metairie, LA; Mother, Agnes Thomas of Marietta, GA; Grandchildren, Justin Vinnacombe (Kristina), Michael Caldwell (Heather), Zac Caldwell, Joshua Vinnacombe (Miranda), Tre Bostic, Jessica Bostic, Caitlin Caldwell, Malena Bostic, Olivia Chatham, and 4 great-grandchildren; Siblings, Charles Thomas, Peggy Lynn, Kenneth Thomas, Jerry Thomas, Terry Thomas and Perry Thomas; also by his long-time friends Sarge and Diane Alexander, Maxine Haygood, the Ricky Twiggs Family, the extended Estes Family and several Nieces and Nephews.
