Paul Edward Clark

June 19, 1946 — December 17, 2015

Paul Edward Clark was 69 years old and died at his home in Dallas, Ga on December 17, 2015. Death was a result of pancreatic cancer that was diagnosed almost two years ago. He told very few people because he wanted to continue life as he had always lived it.  Paul was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 19, 1946 to John Edward Clark and Edna Meyers Clark. Brothers and sisters were/are Gail (D), Roger (D), John (L), Judy (D), Edna (L), Bobby (L), and Dawn (D). Being the oldest son, Paul was called upon to be a man at an early age. Advisor to his mother, companion to his father, and watch dog to his siblings. He was a superman. Paul was married for the last 29 years to Louise Doxsey Clark. A glass ring was what he gave to her, given to him by a friend. They lived their lives ever after without debt. Education was from the school of hard knocks and from old world knowledge that was passed on to him by the finest of craftsmen. Early on, the Clark family moved to upstate New York where his family lived on a monastery. Taught in a one room school house, Paul absorbed everything that was being taught to all of the grades. When he moved back to the big city the teacher told the school board to test him for placement. He surpassed all expectations. This he continued to do all of his life.  Paul joined the Navy in 1965 and served until 1969. His mother wrote to the ship captain and had his brother, Roger, put on the same ship as him, contrary to regulations. Navy awards would range from three-time arm wrestling champion to the only team to achieve perfect scores in ship navigating during the Vietnam Nam War. Charting and keeping the maps earned him the honor of having an undersea mountain named after him.  Paul tried his hand at everything when it came to work or careers. He excelled at all, from a bakery chef who invented a method to keep cellophane wrappers from clinging to pastries, to being a supervisor for such things as Starbucks interiors and to the welcoming center to the Chief Vann House of Chattsworth, GA. On the jobs he was known as the dinosaur because he had been around so long that he seemed to know everything. He loved to think and plan out before he did anything. He was famous for doing his best thinking while he was on the toilet.    Paul's true passion was rebuilding and designing antique cars. As it turns out, although not his favorite type of vehicle, a 1952 Chevy truck will be what he is most remembered for.    Paul believed in saving the rainforest and the oceans. He loved kids, Christmas and sunsets. These he regularly shared with his wife and family and friends.    Paul is survived by his wife: Louise, his sons: Steven, David, Paul Calhoun, Richard, Charles, and his daughters: Tiffany and Amanda. Grandchildren include: Madison, Ivy, Lily, Layla, Caleb, and a grandson, Abraham, who will be born on December 22, 2015. His dog, a boxer named Harley, faithfully guards family and all the land within his sight. Services will be waved in favor of a car run to see the sunset of Rockmart, GA. Time to be announced. All are welcome.    Favorite quotes can be summed up by the sentiment in the two following examples from the first of the two of the new Star Trek movies:   Spock: (young) "I need. Everyone to continue performing admirably."     Spock: (old) "I have been and always shall be, your friend."
