Katrina Dotson

January 16, 1933 — September 21, 2017

Katrina E. Dotson, age 84, of Acworth, Georgia passed away September 21, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Her Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta.

Mrs. Dotson (known to most as “Peggy”) was born on January 16th, 1933 in Lyerly, Georgia to William and Myrtle Baker. She married James E. Dotson (known to most as “Ed”) on September 12, 1948 and together, they spent the next 64 years doting on each other like newlyweds. Though they resided briefly in Kentucky and Florida, they lived most of their life in the Cobb and Paulding County area where they raised 3 daughters and a son.

Mrs. Dotson was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to everyone who was blessed to cross her path. She loved spending time with her family, and she was heavily involved in her church. If the doors were open, she was there – standing with arms raised in the front row, singing and dancing in the Spirit, and praising the Almighty God from whom her joy came.

Though she exuded peace, kindness, and the love of God from every pore of her body, Mrs. Dotson became a mighty warrior when she entered her prayer closet and interceded for those she loved. Family members have often said, “Her prayers have surely saved my life a time or two.”

As those who have met her know, she was just as beautiful on the outside as she was on the inside. Without a hint of pretentiousness, Mrs. Dotson always looked like she’d just walked off the set of an old Hollywood film. Furthermore, she had a unique gift for decorating and could create elegance out of ordinary things.

She will be missed dearly by her family and by all who have experienced her sweet spirit and contagious smile. Even so, we rejoice knowing that she now resides in Heaven…the only place that is truly worthy of her “sparkle”.
