She was born in Atlanta, GA on August 9, 1914 to Miles Franklin and Cliff Barnett Harris. She is survived by her grandson, Thaddeus Miles Holt and cousins: John Clayton and Clifford Clayton of Marietta, Geraldine Albro of Douglasville and Juanita Kimbrough of Senoia.
Prior to her marriage to Thad in 1946, Juanita worked as a hostess in the Tea Room at Rich’s Department Store. It was there that she met Thad. He was a sports writer for the Atlanta Constitution Newspaper. During his career, he became friends with many sports figures. He promoted the last fight for Jack Dempsey here in Atlanta. After their marriage, she became active in various clubs, most notably working to raise funds for the Tallulah Falls School. Thad and Juanita were founding charter members of the Cherokee Town Club on West Paces Ferry Road in Atlanta.
Her love of travel expressed itself in vacations in Highlands, NC, Martha’s Vineyard, MA, Fort Lauderdale, FL and many cruises in the Caribbean. Thad and Juanita loved trips to New York to see the current Broadway shows.
She was always present for games of the Atlanta Crackers as Thad was covering the games for the AJC. When not at the stadium, she loved watching the Atlanta Braves and was thrilled to see them win the World Series. The Georgia Bulldogs was a favorite of Thad and Juanita, going to the games in Sanford Stadium almost religiously. They partied with Vince Dooley and others at his home after a Bulldog win.
