Harry "Roscoe" Willard Blackburn

December 19, 1922 — August 11, 2013

Harry W. “Roscoe” Blackburn, 90, of Powder Springs, GA, formerly of Forest Hills, KY, went to be with the Lord on August 11. Preceding him in death on May 1 was his wife of 34 years, Matilda Hunt Blackburn.
He is survived by his sister, Magdalene West of Aflex, KY, his daughter, Sharon Farley (Roger), two grandsons, Scott Farley (Julie) and Mark Farley (Kim) and nine great grandchildren.
Roscoe served in the US Army Air Corp during World War II where he witnessed the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima. He worked all his life on heavy equipment in construction and in the coal mines. He was loved by all who knew him and we will miss his wonderful stories.
Service will be graveside at the Kennesaw Memorial Park August 14 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Online guestbook available at www.westcobbfuneralhome.com
