Frank Joseph Malinak

January 24, 1920 — February 27, 2015

Frank Joseph Malinak passed away peacefully on Friday morning, February 27, 2015. He was 95.

Frank was born on January 24, 1920 in Shiner, Texas. The grandson of European immigrants, he grew up in rural Texas during the Great Depression.

Frank embarked on what would be a 23 year military career in defense of America during the World War II era. He would achieve the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. After earning his Liaison Pilot Wings early on, he would be stationed all over the world in defense of freedom. Frank would go on to receive seven medals during his service in the US Air Force.

Among his awards were the following: Air medal for meritorious achievement in a combat zone, Distinguished Unit citation, Good conduct medal with clasp and loop, medals for American Defense, American Theater of Operations, European, Middle Eastern and African campaign. He also earned the World War II Victory Medal for his role in defeating evil in Europe.

Frank was an American hero outside of the military as well. He took seriously the role of thoughtful watchkeeper of his entire family.

He was a loving husband to Floy, whom he cherished and it showed daily. She was quite simply his "soul mate." Their incredible marriage lasted for more than 67 beautiful years, most of which were spent in the same Marietta home off Powder Springs Road.

His sons Greg (wife Debbie) and Steve benefited greatly from having him as their father. They reciprocated his love for them and they were given the tremendous example he set.

Grandchildren: Keith (wife Kari), Heather, Keli (Vadim) love him dearly as well. His great grandchildren: Azlin, Ezra, Zelie and Ava were also blessed in knowing him.

Visitation is Sunday, March 1st, 2015 from 12 noon until 2 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home on Macland Rd. The service will be held immediately thereafter at 2pm in the Chapel.
