Euriel Simpson

November 12, 1945 — April 28, 2018

Euriel Simpson Sr. passed peacefully from this life on April 28, 2018, after a gradual decline in health, due to Alzheimer’s Dementia. He was surrounded and supported by his family and friends.
Euriel was born on 11/12/45 in the parish of Manchester, Jamaica. He was the 2nd child of Violet Forbes and Varrel Simpson, who both preceded him in death. Euriel was lovingly known as “Son” to his family and friends. He attended Nazareth Primary School in Manchester and went on to receive his secondary education at St Paul of the Cross Catholic School in Mandeville. During his time at St. Paul’s, he ranked number one in his classes.
His memory span was exceptional (how ironic). He could recite books he read as a youngster and recounted Catholic Masses conducted in Latin. He was an avid reader and was likened to a walking encyclopedia. In the USA, his love of learning continued as he attended Bronx Community College. Euriel had a great sense of humor and loved to listen to his assortment of music. Reggae, Ska, Soca, Oldies, Jazz; he had a massive collection. Bob Marley was his favorite artist.
After immigrating to the United States, he was joined in holy matrimony to Brenda Lashley. Their union lasted 25 years and was blessed with 2 children, Euriel Jr. and Michael. Euriel worked in Real Estate and was co-owner of Brunsim Realty in Mount Vernon, New York.
He relocated to Nashville Tennessee later in life and worked at Gaylord Opryland, until his retirement. He began writing poetry and was inducted into The International Poetry Hall of Fame for his work. Euriel grew up in the Moravian Church, where his foundation in Christianity was formed. His favorite bible passage for reflection and meditation was Ecclesiastes 12:1-7.
Although his earthly form has left us, Euriel’s spirit will always be remembered by everyone who knew and loved him. Euriel is survived by his children Euriel Jr. (Saran), Michael (Nicole), grandchildren Nile, Elise and Sophia. Sisters; Barbara, Helen, Lorna, Joan, Amorell and St Ine. Brothers; Stafford, Keith and Larry. His cherished cousins, Yvonne “Terry” and Madge. His devoted and caring friends, Rodene, Errol and Clemor and a host of relatives and friends.
