Betty Jane Casey

Betty Jane Casey, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday July, 16th at the Kristal Bell Care Home Glendale, AZ.
She was born in Larned, Kansas November 12, 1922 to Fred Albert Rhodes and Sarah Lettie Cain. Betty was the fourth of five children Cleo Lettie Rhodes, Frances Marie Rhodes, William Albert Rhodes, Betty Jane Rhodes and John Winfred Rhodes.
Betty married Paul Roger Casey July 20, 1943 in Woodruff, SC. They met while both worked for Bell Bomber Manufacturing Plant during World War Two in Wichita, Kansas.
Betty was a graduate of Massey Business College and worked several jobs before deciding to be a stay at home Mom and care for her three children. When the children were in their teens, Betty opened a ceramic business and enjoyed ceramics into her late eighties having won many prizes and ribbons in competition throughout her career. She was an avid golfer and was so proud of her only hole-in-one. An accomplished crochet and knitter, she placed and won many categories at the Cobb County fair sewing competition. For more than forty years Betty served her local community as a supervisor of multiple election polling places. Paul and Betty were long term members and supporters of the Olive Springs Baptist Church. As a young woman, Betty taught tap dancing and performed in many stage plays. When ask late in life by son Rodney what would have been her dream career, Betty answered to be an actress. She loved to perform. She loved music and played the organ which she donated to a church constructed from the Casey family home after the passing of her husband Paul. Betty was a loving Mom and wife. She always put others first and went out of her way to help family and friends in any way she could no matter how small or large the effort. She worked many years as a volunteer fund raiser for the March of Dimes helping those is need. She had a great sense of humor and incredible energy. She will be terribly missed and will dwell in our hearts forever.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Roger Casey, in October 2000. Her Father, Mother, both brothers and sisters and Son-in-Law Truman (Mo) Owens.
Betty is survived by daughter Paula Casey Owens, Spartanburg, SC; Son and daughter-in-law Rodney Neal and Deborah Wright Casey, Valdosta, GA; Son and daughter-in-law Fred Roger and Sue Shaffer Casey, Sun City, Arizona. Granddaughter Amy Bradley Swanger, Chesnee, SC; Grandsons Rodney Jefferson (Jeff) Casey, Dallas, TX; Andrew Michael Casey, San Antonio, TX; Casey O’Brian Owens, Spartanburg, SC; Hunter Prescott Casey, Clarksville, TN; Austin Granville Casey, San Diego, CA; Great-Grandsons, Paul James Bradly, Sean William Casey, Brayden James Casey, Zachary Ryan Casey, Conner Michael Casey; Great-Granddaughter Madison Elisabeth Casey.
Funeral services will be held Thursday July 21 at West Cobb Funeral Home, 2480 Macland Road SW, Marietta, GA 30064. Visitation starts at 11:00 O‘clock followed by the service at 12:00 noon with Internment following after Chapel service at Cheatham Hill Cemetery 1861 Dallas Hwy Marietta, GA.
